Mr. Artymiw performed on the Grammy® Award winning soundtrack to Standing in the Shadows of Motown with the Funk Brothers and with Chaka Kahn on her Grammy® Award winning performance of Whats Going On. Mr. Artymiw started violin lessons at the age four studying with Morris Shulik of the Philadelphia Orchestra. At age nine, Mr. Artymiw appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and again at age twelve. Orest performed at the Sploeto Festival in Charlston, SC, he also was soloist in the production Big River at the Walnut Street Theater and he performed in Washington D.C. for First Lady Bush. Mr. Artymiw is a very active freelance musician in the Philadelphia, Atlantic City and New York areas. He has performed with Joni Mitchell, Libarace, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Smokey Robinson, Bobby Vinton, Johnny Mathis, Patti Page, Barry White, Lionel Richie, Dionne Warwick, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Page/Robert Plant, The Moody Blues, Meat Loaf, Roger Daltry with John Entwisle, Paul Anka, Wayne Newton, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra Jr., ELO, Jimmy Roselli, Olivia Newton John and others at locations including The Kimmel Center,The Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall, The Mann Music Center, Tower Theater, The Spectrum, TLA Theater, Stabler Arena, as well as the Atlantic City casinos. He has also made numerous recordings for television and radio for such companies as McDonald's and Nickelodeon, and has appeared on the Philadelphia International, Atlantic, MCA, in addition to many independent recording labels. Orest is the string section leader of the First Union Musical Christmas Tree orchestra at the Gallery Mall and is concertmaster for the Jubilate Deo Choral and Orchestra.
Orest is also known for his exceptional skill on the Electric 5-String Violin. He lead Arty & the Hot Katz with daily performances for forty weeks at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. He also performs regularly with many jazz, rock, fusion and country bands. Currently he is perfroming regularly with The Barley Boys
Mr. Artymiw was educated at the Juilliard School where he studied with Dorothy Delay and The University of the Arts where he studied with Robert dePasquale and holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Education degrees.
